A Fiat is preparing to launch its first hybrid-flex models in Brazil. These are the models Pulse e FastbackSUVs that had images revealed along with confirmation of launch on the national market. The Stellantis Group, owner of the brand, will invest around R$14 billion of the contribution of R$ 32 would be promised for Brazil and South America to develop hybrid technology in Betim (MG).

The company’s Vice President for South America, Alexandre Aquino, commented on the news:

Fiat is the brand recognized for revolutionizing and democratizing accessible technologies in Brazil. With our innovative DNA and solid leadership in the national market over the last four years, it is natural that we also lead a new era of transformation. To achieve this, we chose to start in an important segment, with our most desired SUVs, the Pulse and Fastback, which will be responsible for driving this revolution.

In general, the Pulse and Fastback will use a simpler technology, consisting of Bio-Hybrid, or mild hybrid, BSG (Belt Starter Generator) engines. The idea is to couple the turbo flex engine (T200) with a small electrical generator. The aforementioned component is part of Stellantis’ investment plan, which includes the other drivers:

  • BEV;
  • Bio-Hybrid e-DCT;
  • Bio-Hybrid Plug-in.

For now, it is not yet known when the company’s first hybrids will be launched, as it has not revealed the exact date or even the price. However, the expectation is that both will be announced during the month of November.
