Summary
The combination of large engine and small body made for a whole range of lively sports sedans in the mid-1960s. Fiat took the opposite approach with the 1500 L, creating a spacious car for drivers without much forward thrust. By crossing the two types “Fiat 1500” and “Fiat 1800 B” a car was created, which in its conception can be more in line with the market than most of the local competitors. The slogan “A lot of car for the money” has been consistently put into practice here, and the offer that Fiat makes with this car is made even more appealing by an incredibly rich equipment. The market success confirms the skilfully chosen concept of the Fiat 1500 L. It has become a hit within six months and is regarding to revive the sales balance of the Heilbronn Fiat subsidiary, which has slipped downwards.
