Feyenoord returns to Rotterdam after educational evening in Lisbon

After a more than successful week in Austria, head coach Brian Priske was curious about the battle with the number two of Portugal. The battle for the Eusébio Cup ended in disappointment. ‘Tonight everything was actually disappointing’, the coach responded afterwards at Feyenoord ONE. ‘I saw a lot of things that I didn’t see in the first weeks of our preparation. But it is my job to stay calm and not just focus on the result.’

Priske could not count on Gernot Trauner, Quinten Timber and Calvin Stengs in the impressive Estádio da Luz. However, the coach was able to use Justin Bijlow, Lutsharel Geertruida, Dávid Hancko and Santiago Gimenez for the first time this training campaign. The four internationals who joined later made their first match minutes.

Feyenoord’s preparation for the official start of the season continues with the Opening Match against AS Monaco, next Wednesday in the Kuip. Priske: ‘That is also a good test for us. Tonight’s result hurts, but we are looking ahead and building towards the Johan Cruijff Shield and the start of the competition.’
