FESYPE’s satisfaction –

During a meeting held as part of the celebration of the commemorative festivities of the 64th anniversary of Gabon’s accession to national and international sovereignty, the Federation of Professional Education Unions (FESYPE) has carefully examined the content of the message to the Nation from the transitional president, Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguéma.

On behalf of FESYPE, the Secretary General of the National Union of Teachers and Agents of the Christian Alliance (SNEAAC), Sosthène Mba Eyeguezor, expressed the satisfaction of the union structures affiliated to FESYPE with regard to the rather conciliatory attitude and tone noted in Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguéma’s address to his compatriots.

“We thank the President for his speech. He was able, with humility, to lay the foundations for an inclusive collaboration by inviting each Gabonese to participate in the construction of the country and to change our old mentalities, by respecting authority and institutions.”he said.

FESYPE, which welcomes the government’s efforts to improve teachers’ working conditions, nevertheless questions the slowness observed in the processing of the back pay file. “We are still wondering at what level the blockage is. We know that the authorities have committed to this, but it is time for the dedicated administrative agents and services to mobilize for the effective implementation of this measure.”declared Sosthène Mba Eyeguezor, Secretary General of SNEAAC.

FESYPE also welcomed the construction of new schools and the rehabilitation of many other educational establishments, all cycles combined; as well as the establishment of a permanent social dialogue between the Ministry of National Education and the social partners, since the CTRI came to power.

These advances, FESYPE believes, show a real desire on the part of the transitional authorities to improve the quality of the national education system, which requires the support and commitment of all stakeholders to be consolidated.
