According to the newspaper ‘Blood and Spiegel’, the suspect was a 26-year-old Syrian citizen who arrived in Germany in December 2022 and was living as a refugee, which is granted to those fleeing the war-torn country.
According to German media, the suspect was not previously known as an extremist in security agencies.
A police spokesman told AFP that authorities had arrested a man during a raid on a refugee hostel near the site of Friday’s attack.
A prosecutor said on Saturday morning that another man had also been arrested.
