Festina, watches that have been reinventing themselves for 120 years

Far from being a disadvantage, old age, even when it is counted in centuries, can be both a force for renewal and dynamism. This is illustrated by Festina, a great watch brand, which with its 120 years intends to continue to imagine watches which fit in with the times.

Swiss know-how and total control of manufacturing: the winning duo

Festina was born in Switzerland in 1902, in a small watch factory in the town of La Chaux-de-Fonds, renowned for its watchmaking traditions. After its takeover in 1984 by Miguel Rodriguez, it took an international turn.

Festina’s strength lies in its mastery of the entire production cycle, from design to following-sales service, including quality control piece by piece, and assembly of the mechanism. ” This total in-house control of manufacturing, including all mechanical parts, guarantees us quality at a fair and attractive price. says Manon Colombies General Manager of Festina for more than 10 years.

A watch in tune with the times

Over the years, the watch brand has been able to evolve its lines and follow trends while remaining true to its values. With a collection that changes every 3 months, Festina now offers more than 500 models, classic, timeless, or with a sporty look, for every moment of the day. The brand dresses all women’s and men’s wrists, as well as that of Miss France 2022 and that of the Scottish actor Gérard Butler whom it has chosen as its muse.

« For us, the future of watchmaking will be in connected watches ” emphasizes Manon Colombies. In 2020, the range was thus enriched with a connected line, which uses its own technology developed by 27 engineers in Malmö.

Festina goes green

While sustainable development is the focus of all attention, Festina is thinking regarding a solar watch to get into green time. ” We are already positioned in this area, since Festina has launched the Rewatch movement which aims to encourage the recycling of watches “. The brand has also focused on its packaging made from 100% biodegradable materials in order to reduce its ecological footprint.

A limited edition anniversary watch

On the occasion of its 120th anniversary, many events will take place in France and on social networks. This standalone, Festina will also release a limited edition timepiece, available at their authorized jewelers and online. Only 120 people will have the chance to wear one on their wrist. In 2023, the brand intends to go even further in connected technology by offering health-oriented features. To be continued !
