A wind of cultural madness is brewing in Libourne: from Thursday August 3 to Saturday August 5, the International Street Arts Festival (Fest’arts) returns for its 32nd edition. Three days of artistic festivities during which 44 companies will provide more than 140 performances in twenty places. For the occasion, the city center is pedestrianized. Get out of the cars! Enough to enjoy the shows in peace, far from the noise of the engines.

Clown, dance, circus, theatrical wanderings, brass band… As always, Fest’arts relies on eclecticism. Instead, parents can take their children to see the fantasy opera “with repeating ducks” entitled “La Mare [l’] on se mire” by Chiendent theatre; “Fly me to the Moon” by Leandre clown who, without a word, enchants his audience, or the Cie Majordome whose show “À drawers Ouverts” won the public’s vote last year as part of the off festival.

From youth to old age

Several artists will evoke old age this year. This is the case of Cie Bouche à bouche whose name of the show speaks for itself: “I have an old one in my bag, if you want I will lend it to you”. For its part, Sentimentale crowd with “La Grande Boueuse” will tell, in alexandrines and hands in the mud of the Gironde estuary, the road-trip of an old French woman who went in search of the ghost of her husband on the shore. from Mississippi.

The Cie Bouche à bouche will present its latest show: “I have an old one in my bag, if you want I’ll lend it to you”

Mouth to mouth

Festival-goers will also meet for a look, a gesture, an embrace… Louisa and Gaspard, two puppets larger than life and on a human scale. Two puppets who, with their wrinkled faces, highlight an old age that is often set aside.

In contrast, “MU. e” from the Petit Théâtre de Pain will talk regarding youth through a fiction that projects us into 2051, at a time when young people have disappeared. A fable of anticipation that calls reality to account.

Circus Springboard

A youth that Fest’arts concretely supports. First with Les Primeurs, the off section of the festival, which highlights young creations and/or companies. Twelve troops are programmed there this year. But also with the circus springboard, one of the novelties. Three young circus artists, supported by a device of the Department intended to promote the artistic practices of Girondins aged 15 to 26, will be on the track in Libourne. The opportunity for these apprentice acrobats to perform in front of an audience, while benefiting from professional support.

Another innovation: the holding of musical naps, every day at 2 p.m., in the Poilu garden, to chill to the sound of the live electro-organic set by Nyum, a musician from Libourne who mixes acoustics and electronics. To be savored in a deck chair or with your feet in the grass to better set out once more to walk the streets in search of artistic surprises.
