Shortly before Easter, Ferrero in Germany recalled several well-known “Kinder” brand products. Background is a connection to salmonella-Outbreaks after consumption of such products in several European countries. All products are made in Belgium. However, as has now emerged, the contamination had been known since December 15th, so Christmas items are also affected. In addition, the recall has now been extended to all batches and best-before dates of the products manufactured in the Belgian plant in Arlon expanded. These children’s products are affected
As the company announced in a press release, Salmonella was found in the area of two raw material tanks in the Belgian plant on December 15, 2021 as part of its own checks. Further investigations had shown that the Salmonella detected there showed a genetic match with Salmonella from numerous cases of illness in several European countries, including Germany. “We take these findings extremely seriously because protecting consumers is our top priority,” said Ferrero.
