Ferrari is on time. The Italian manufacturer put its hypercar on track for the first time this Wednesday on the Fiorano test track. Motorsport.com was able to get the first shots of the machine that will allow the Scuderia to make a comeback next year in the fight for the general classification at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The name of the hypercar is currently unknown, although it was driven by the hands ofAlessandro Pier Guidi. She was dressed in a camouflage livery. In the morning the car was debugged with a series of installation laps, while these early tests are set to continue throughout the followingnoon.
“It’s a very exciting moment, extremely anticipated both by the people who worked on this project and by Ferrari fans”said Antonello Coletta, head of Ferrari’s GT competition department. “Being able to reap the rewards of many months of work, planning and simulation gives us energy and motivation. We are proud of what we have achieved, and even if the camouflage of the LMH hides the volumes and the style of the car, I think it’s undeniably recognizable as a Ferrari.”
The final livery, in the coming months, will make it possible to better discern the shapes and the stylistic signature chosen by Ferrari, in accordance with the freedoms offered by the new Hypercar regulations when the LMH branch is favored by a manufacturer. This hypercar will be equipped with a hybrid system at the front, therefore four-wheel drive, and must make its debut in competition during the 2023 season. Part of the structure for the racing team will be built in partnership with AF Corse .
“The program was rather classic for a shakedown, with a lap and then a return to the pits to check everything”confirmed a Ferrari spokesperson. “The car was more often in the garage than on the track, but that’s pretty normal for first tests. We will start a very intense development program this month and we intend to go to many circuits European countries because it is easier logistically.”
If Alessandro Pier Guidi was the first to baptize this Ferrari LMH, other drivers already members of the Ferrari fold and accustomed to the GT program are expected to drive it soon, including James Calado, Nicklas Nielsen et Antonio Fuoco.
