Maranello (Italy) (AFP) – Ferrari, participating in the Formula One World Championship, unveiled its new car, the F1-75, on Thursday, as part of the Italian pit’s efforts to enter the competition with Mercedes and Red Bull, and return to the top once more and reconcile with victories.

The Constructors’ Cup has been absent from the coffers of Maranello headquarters for 14 years, as Ferrari compensated for its poor results in 2020 and its sixth place, by advancing to third place last year.

The Prancing Horse, the most decorated team in G1, won its last of 16 constructors’ titles in 2008, while the last red driver to win the drivers’ title was Finland’s Kimi Raikkonen in 2007.

The last win in one of the grand prix was at the hands of the four-time world champion German Sebastian Vettel (currently Aston Martin driver), who finished first once morest his teammate Charles Leclerc of Monaco in the Singapore Grand Prix in 2019.

The duo hopes Leclerc and the Spanish Carlos Sainz, who replaced Vettel, to lead Ferrari to the top once more and end the dominance of Mercedes and Red Bull on the capabilities of the championship.

The 27-year-old is the son of the famous rally driver Carlos Sainz, and finished last year in fifth place, two places ahead of his 24-year-old teammate Leclerc.

“Expectations are very high because we are Ferrari and we always expect to win,” said Leclerc.

“But we’ll only know as soon as we head to the track.”

The new model was unveiled at the team’s headquarters in Maranello and was named the F1-75 in honor of the 75th anniversary of the production of the first car by founder Enzo Ferrari.

The new car is distinguished by dark red and black colors, which represents a return to the roots and traditions of the Scuderia with the innovative design of the new Formula One cars. The cars overtake each other more easily during the races and provide a more exciting show on the tracks. The car was also equipped with larger tires than before.

The new Ferrari also features a two-piece nose with a spoiler attached to the bottom, giving the engineers a greater range of settings to suit different track characteristics and requirements.

The Red Bull team had revealed a preliminary version of its new car, while Mercedes, the constructors’ champion in the past eight years, will follow in the footsteps of his rival, crowned drivers’ title with Dutchman Max Verstappen, on Friday.

The first trials, which precede the start of the new year, will be held in Bahrain on March 20th, at Barcelona Circuit from 23-25 of this month.
