Ferrari PRINCIPAL, Fred Vasseur, has revealed that minor improvements to his car at the Formula 1 (F1) United States GP will be the last for the Scuderia team this season.
The Maranello-based team remains in contention for the constructors’ championship although the focus is currently on the battle between Red Bull and McLaren. The point difference between the team from Woking and Ferrari reached 75 points with seven rounds remaining.
Vasseur revealed that his main focus at the moment is developing the engine for next year, not further developing this season’s car.

“We all know that we have started development of the next car, and we are trying to do our best to make small improvements in the next race,” Vasseur said, citing Motorsport, Tuesday (10/1).
“I think it will probably be the last for everyone; that’s true for us, but also for other teams. Now overall it’s been very tight in the last four or five or six races, if you look at the grid, it’s probably getting tighter and every things can make a difference.”
At the Singapore GP, Ferrari was troubled by a disappointing qualifying session where Charles Leclerc struggled with tire preparation and had to write off a lap in Q3, while Carlos Sainz crashed.

The teams then split strategies from ninth and 10th on the grid, with Sainz stopping early to gain a clear position after losing ground on the opening lap, while Leclerc continued the race.
Leclerc then finished P5, leaving George Russell struggling in fourth, while Sainz finished seventh on his hard tyres.
Explaining why the decision to take a different approach, Vasseur said it was aimed at aiming for a position at the finish line.

“But if you want to be aggressive, you will pit lap 12 or 15 like Lewis (Hamilton) did – you have no other choice,” said Vasseur.
“At least to start with the mediums, we had the opportunity to extend, the race scenario was a little different and I think that was a good strategy.”
“However, the fact that we split the cars to do one initial stop and then another extended one was also a good decision, I think, and it worked out quite well because of the position of the track at that time.” (Ndf)
