Ferrari hypercar trials begin at Fiorano

On Wednesday in Fiorano, an event that the press office of Ferrari has already called historic took place: Alessandro Pier Guidi, two-time winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the LMGTE-Pro category, brought the latest hypercar created in Maranello to the factory test track for the first time.

This LMH class car will debut in the 2023 World Endurance Championship and has been overseen by Benedetto Vigna, CEO of Ferrari, for its initial run-in.

“After many months of work on the simulator, and finally I got the opportunity to sit behind the wheel of a real car – it was an amazing experience,” commented Pierre Guidi. – Driving a Ferrari car, with which our company returns to the highest category of endurance racing following a 50-year break, I experienced very strong emotions.

While we are at the very beginning of the journey, there is a lot of work ahead, but the feeling is very positive. I’m proud to be starting work on the LMH class car as exciting new adventures await Ferrari.”

The work started by the Italian was continued by Niklas Nielsen, another Ferrari factory driver. During the day, the engineers from the company’s sports division tested the operation of all systems of the car, which will undergo an intensive test program before it goes to the start for the first time. In the meantime, a Ferrari LMH in a special camouflage coloring.

By the way, this year marks exactly half a century from the day the Ferrari factory proving ground was opened in Fiorano, and it is symbolic in its own way that it began testing the car with which the Italian company returns to sports prototype racing 50 years following the last official participation in them. .
