To thes 9, approximately, began the trial by jury of the crime of Facundo Castillo in Cipolletti. During the process, the popular jury must decide if the defendant, Ramiro Gutiérrez, is guilty or not. In the front row, just behind Gutiérrez, is Fernando Burlando.
From 8:30 a.m., the 12 members of the popular jury selected together with the defense lawyers, the complaint, the trial judge and family members were summoned to court. A few minutes following the scheduled time, Fernando Burlando arrived at the courtroom.
Although the renowned lawyer will not be part of the defense, he was summoned a few months ago by the Gutiérrez family as an adviser. “I’m here just to be a good observer. One more entity in the courtroom,” said Burlando.
Regarding the fact that is being debated today, the media lawyer said: “I know the fact, today we are going to learn more regarding it. It is very important that the experts and witnesses are present. When all the evidence is in, I will give my analysis.”
In addition, Burlando stated that there were circumstances in the process prior to the trial that alerted him. “There were some circumstances that caught my attention. A judge who did not have to intervene, issues that have to do with the start of the procedure, ”he said.
Regarding the modality of the trial, Burlando revealed that he was fascinated by the popular jury. “I love that it’s a jury trial, I think it will be possible to arrive at the truth because the benefits of the process are fantastic”, he assured.

Emiliano Castillo, Facundo’s brother, expressed his opinion regarding Burlando’s arrival. “I am not surprised, people only remember the case of Fernando Báez Sosa. But it’s the same guy defended the murderers of Cabezas and various characters linked to drug trafficking,” he declared.
In addition, Emiliano said “What actually surprises me is that he defended Fernando.”
