The Spaniard was fastest in FP3 but no improvements were made from Friday on the wet Mandalika Circuit…
Fermin Alduguer (MB Conveyors Speed Up) was the rider to beat in tricky wet conditions at Saturday morning’s Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia, but it’s Jake Dixon (Inde GASAGS Aspar Team) who led the Moto2™ field into qualifying leads. Rain ahead of FP3 at Mandalika meant there were no improvements from Friday followingnoon, meaning Celestino Vietti (Mooney VR46 Racing Team) and Sam Lowes (Elf Marc VDS Racing Team) complete the top three of the combined standings.
Aldeguer 1.4s clear in FP3
It was an incredibly impressive session for the reigning Moto2™ European Champion. Aldeguer was 1.4s quicker than Augusto Fernandez (Red Bull KTM Ajo) and Dixon. That’s a nice leap of faith for the riders at the front should rain play a role in qualifying, with forecasts suggesting no more rain. As many expected yesterday, dry times from FP2 proved crucial as they now set the automatic Q2 order…
The automatic Q2 participants
Behind the leading trio is Pedro Acosta (Red Bull KTM Ajo) in P4, while his teammate Augusto Fernandez completes the top five. Aldeguer is sixth ahead of Albert Arenas (Inde GASGAS Aspar Team), Tony Arbolino (Elf Marc VDS Racing Team), Aron Canet (Flexbox HP40) and Manuel Gonzalez (Yamaha VR46 Master Camp Team). Jorge Navarro (Flexbox HP40) missed the top 10 by just 0.002s. The Spaniard sits P11 and is safe in Q2 along with Cameron Beaubier (American Racing), Marcos Ramirez (MV Agusta Forward Racing) and Romano Fenati (MB Conveyors Speed Up).
