The president of the Democratic Coalition, as a guest of ATV’s Monday night Straight Speech, spoke regarding the signature collection launched by the party, the aim of which is the direct presidential election, reported Hungarian Nation. Gyurcsány revealed that the opposition parties have already discussed whether they will nominate a joint candidate. To the presenter’s suggestion that then,
when there was a left-wing government, why didn’t they deal with this issue, Ferenc Gyurcsány responded by saying that what they thought then is not relevant for the present, moreover, there was no legitimacy problem then, because the two largest parties also supported the indirect presidential election, i.e. also the governing MSZP at the time.
The presenter then asked, in light of the fact that the left-wing parties had already launched so many petitions, “like the stars in the sky”moreover, the results of these were never reported, so does it make sense to collect another signature?
The fallen prime minister then lost his role for good when the presenter suggested that
Like Katalin Novák and Judith Varga, why didn’t he take responsibility in 2006 and why didn’t he resign?
Gyurcsány claimed that he took responsibility.
I stood in front of the parliament. I asked the majority if you would like me to continue? This is taking responsibility
– said the president of DK, to which the presenter replied that he did not resign following the Öszöd speech.
After that, all hell broke loose in the studio, Gyurcsány got out of his own way and started attacking the presenter.
In fact, you are not asking me this question, you are accusing me. Your question is the accusation. And I refuse to be accused by you
Gyurcsány said.
