As the curtain falls Monday evening on the Festival d’été de Québec (FEQ), several catering players will keep a positive impression of the 2023 edition, slightly marred by the vagaries of the weather.
“We had some very good nights the first week, then it calmed down a bit from Monday to Thursday because of the weather and cancellations. [de spectacles]. In the end, I would say that it remains a good year, but it was more uneven”, notes Simon, a waiter at the restaurant Les 3 Brasseurs on the Grande Allée.
“Not made of chocolate”
Several hundred people spent hours in the pouring rain waiting for the site to open for the Green Day show on the Bell Stage. The newspaper took the opportunity to collect the impressions of these brave men and women regarding the edition of the festival which is ending.
Well seated in their camping chairs, brothers Samuel and Carl-André Lachance said they were very satisfied with their overall experience, despite the whims of Mother Nature.

“It’s a good edition in terms of programming and it reaches a lot of people, explains the first. […] The first week it was too hot, but that’s okay. We don’t mind the rain either, we’re not made of chocolate!”
Waiting lines
Others, like Alexis Ouellet, were surprised by the crowds on the Festival sites during “big nights”. Access to restrooms, food kiosks and water fountains was more difficult than usual, he said.

“It was a great experience, but I find that there was more waiting than in previous years for the water fountains and the toilets”, he underlines, supported by his friend Mathieu Marois-Aubert .
The two stooges who won the chicken run for the Foo Fighters show last Saturday, however, maintain that the wait was completely justified to have access to “world-famous artists”.
