Feminizing STIB: Empowering Women through Renaming Stops and Lines – Latest Updates and Future Plans in 2024

2023-09-04 21:32:40

A change that is part of the STIB’s desire to feminize its network and therefore to give female names to its stops, lines or metros. In 2019, the network had already renamed the “Trois Arbres” stop to “Jeanne Herreman”, one of the first tram drivers at Stib. And at the beginning of 2021, the “Forestoise” stop on bus line 48 became “Gatti de Gamond”, in honor of a Belgian feminist, founder of secondary schools for girls. Other names of stops in Brussels were also feminized last year: Rosa Parks, Audrey Hepburn, Marie Depage, Marie-Christine, etc.

Stib has announced that it is pursuing its objectives by feminizing once more three stops in 2024.
