The governor of Azuay, Matías Abad, confirmed that the Police are searching the entire province for Carlos Flores Santander and Luis Eduardo Cordero, the femicides of Cristina Palacio and Bertha Minchala, respectively, who were released the first days of this March 2023.
The precautionary measure issued by Judge Gina Zambrano, of the Montecristi Judicial Unit, was revoked and ordered the immediate recapture.
The Governor, in a press conference given on the followingnoon of this Friday, February 3, 2023, explained that in the first hours of the search there were no results on the whereregardings of the femicide perpetrators.
For now, all protocols for recapture have been activated.

As part of the operations, controls will be carried out at all entrances and exits from the province.
For this, personnel from the Ecuadorian Transit Commission and the Armed Forces have joined.

Raid at judge’s office
Through an urgent act, the Prosecutor’s Office raided the office of Judge Gina Zambrano, of the Montecristi Judicial Unit, on Friday followingnoon, in order to gather evidence –such as electronic equipment and documentation that will be analyzed– regarding the commission of an alleged crime.
The diligence was requested following several complaints once morest the judicial server were known for having -allegedly- ordered the release of 2 femicides, sentenced to 35 and 34 years in prison, respectively.
