A 29-year-old mother was strangled by her ex-partner in the city of La Banda, in Santiago del Estero, Argentina.

The victim was identified as Maira Alejandra Soria and the author, who confessed to the authorities, as Adrián Centeno, 39 years old.

At the crime scene, the police also found two knives, a pair of scissors and a pillowcase, which might have been used as an element to suffocate her.

In addition, the police found another daughter, 6 years old, who was sleeping in another room.

In a conversation with Noticiero 7, prosecutor Mariano Gómez confirmed that Maira Alejandra Soria denounced Adrián Centeno on March 28 for minor injuries in the context of gender violence.

“We called the victim and made the report, ratifying the testimonies, plus the psychological report,” the persecutor started.

According to the testimony of neighbors, the fights between the two were common and a woman, identified as Cecilia Ábalos, accused that the man was jealous.

At press time, Centeno remains in police custody at the Banda Comprehensive Health Center.
