According to the specialized American site TRAC, this Wednesday revealed how a young woman suicide bomber from the Baloch Liberation Army (ALB) targeted a convoy of Pakistani army personalities in Chakar-e-Azam Chowk, Turbat, in the province of Balochistan.

Mode of operation

On June 24, 2023, a female Baloch Liberation Army (ALB) suicide bomber targeted a Pakistani army VIP convoy in Chakar-e-Azam Chowk, Turbat, nearly 500 kms east of the capital Karachi.

The suicide bomber was identified as Sumaiya Qalandrani Baloch from the Majeed Brigade, TRAC said.

The convoy was targeted on its way from Turbat International Airport and authorities said a police officer was killed and two others injured. The Islamist sponsors claim that the attack was carried out on “the basis of privileged information” concerning the movement of the convoy and its route.

Before becoming a suicide bomber for the organization, Sumaiya alias Sammo, daughter of Ubaid Qalandrani and resident of Tootak in Khuzdar, had been part of the extremist movement for seven years, four of them spent in training.

According to the movement, Sumaiya not only worked with the organization’s media wing for five years, but she was also the fiancée of Rehan Baloch, the son of the BLA’s founding leader, General Aslam Baloch, who died. as a martyr” in 2018.

Two days following the bombing, Sumaiya’s last video speech was released by the official BLA media. The video showed her in the company of at least ten other fighters. Sumaiya used his dying words as a recruiting tool, saying the BLA “needed to sacrifice itself once morest its enemies” and called on young men and women to join this radical movement.

TRAC recalls that this is “the second suicide bombing by a woman” of the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), the first being that committed by Shari Baloch of the Majeed Brigade once morest Chinese nationals on the campus of the university from Karachi in April 2022. Since the Shari Baloch bombing, the propaganda of this terrorist group has continued to celebrate it.

Besides the young Sumaiya, like her comrade Shari, the Sumaiya attack should be widely celebrated by the BLA movement and its sympathizers in the years to come, predicts TRAC.

And to add: “Other female suicide bombers are to be expected in the near future”.
