Felix Tshisekedi receives Erdogan during an official ceremony

The President of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Felix Tshisekedi, welcomed his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, during an official ceremony in the capital, Kinshasa.

The ceremony took place at the presidential palace in the capital, Kinshasa, where the national anthems of the two countries were performed.

The two leaders then introduced the delegations from their respective countries.

Erdogan and Tshisekedi are expected to hold a press conference after their bilateral meeting and chair the meeting of the two countries’ delegations, during which a number of agreements will be signed.

The Turkish Head of State arrived in Kinshasa today, thus starting an African tour which also includes Senegal and Guinea-Bissau.

During his tour, Erdogan is accompanied by Ministers of Foreign Affairs Mevlut Cavusoglu, Interior Suleyman Soylu, Defense Hulusi Akar, Trade Mehmet Muş, Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu, Youth and Sports Mehmet Muharrem Kasapoglu.

He is also accompanied by Turkish Presidency Spokesperson Ibrahim Kalin, Defense Industries Director Ismail Demir and Turkish Presidency Communications Department Director Fahrettin Altun.

Erdogan’s African tour includes the Democratic Republic of Congo, Senegal and Guinea-Bissau.

A statement issued by the communication department of the Turkish presidency said on Saturday that Erdogan will discuss with the officials of these countries the broad spectrum of bilateral relations and the possibilities of developing bilateral cooperation in all fields.
