Félix Tshisekedi invests the governors of Equateur and Sankuru

Bobo Boloko Bolumbu and Victor Kitenge Kanyama were sworn in as governors of Equateur and Sankuru respectively. The two ordinances carrying their investiture were read on Wednesday, July 17, 2024 on national television (RTNC). These investitures come following the stage of litigation before the country’s judicial authorities.

Last May, Bobo Boloko Bolumbu was re-elected governor of the province of Equateur with 14 votes out of 21 in the elections held at the provincial assembly. Boloko Bolumbu, a member of the Union for Democracy and Social Progress (UDPS/Tshisekedi) and originally from the territory of Ingende, thus retained his position once morest 17 other candidates, including Jean Marie Mboyo Ingele who obtained 7 votes.

Victor Kitenge Kanyama of the political group Agissons et Bâtissons (AB) was elected governor of the province of Sankuru. The latter obtained 15 votes out of the 25 provincial deputies that make up the Provincial Assembly. He succeeds Jules Lodi of the Union for Democracy and Social Progress (UDPS/Tshisekedi), who was also in the running for his succession.

Before his election as governor of Sankuru, Victor Kitenge Kanyama, then first substitute, sat in the National Assembly as a national deputy between 2020 and 2023 replacing Christophe Lutundula appointed Deputy Prime Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Sama Lukonde I government.
