The stage play “A Generation of “Pride Yang” Yang Kaihui” tells the touching story of Yang Kaihui, a revolutionary female martyr from Hunan. Yang Kaihui was born in a family of intellectuals and received a good education since childhood. The new ideas of science and democracy made her a progressive “new woman”. Despite the dissuasion from all sides, she met and fell in love with Mao Zedong. After marriage, she firmly supported Mao Zedong’s revolutionary work, and under the White Terror, she assisted Mao Zedong to do a lot of work for the party. In the winter of 1930, Yang Kaihui was unfortunately arrested. In prison, she would rather die than give in to the harsh torture of the enemy.
Stills of “Oath to shed the last drop of blood for the Soviets”.
The repertoire “Swear to shed the last drop of blood for the Soviets” tells the heroic deeds of Chen Shuxiang, the commander of the Red Thirty-Fourth Division, who “broken his heart”. In 1934, when Chen Shuxiang led the rest of the Red 34th Division to cross the Xiaoshui River, he was shot in the abdomen and was seriously injured. Because the enemy was outnumbered and out of ammunition and food, Chen Shuxiang was unfortunately captured. The enemy brought ginseng to soak in water from the pharmacy for him to drink, and served him a good meal, but Chen Shuxiang refused to be treated and eaten, and vowed not to surrender to the enemy. While being escorted to Changsha, Chen Shuxiang took advantage of the unpreparedness of the enemy, endured severe pain, took out his intestines from the wound, twisted it with all his strength, sacrificed heroically, fought for the revolution to the end, and shed the last drop of blood for the Soviets.
During the more than one hour performance, the actors’ superb acting skills, realistic stage scenes and ups and downs and moving stories made people seem to have returned to the revolutionary years, and the mood was sometimes tense and sometimes surging with the development of the story. After the performance, the audience and teachers burst into applause. The students all said that this red stage play is an experiential teaching class with novel and lively forms. Through the interpretation of revolutionary stories, the deeds of heroes and martyrs are reproduced in vivid and lively art. .
The teaching of red stage scenes is an important exploration of the innovative teaching mode of Hunan Provincial Party School in recent years. The script was created by teachers from the Party History Teaching and Research Department of the Party School of the Provincial Party Committee. According to the script, the students used their spare time to familiarize themselves with the lines, rehearse their positions, and carefully polish their gestures. After ten rehearsals, they finally successfully completed the teaching performance. By participating in the stage play, the students further tempered their party spirit, enhanced their emotional experience and rational cognition of the revolutionary spirit, and promoted the unity of knowledge, belief, and action.
