Feeling sick during the holidays? Where to go to avoid getting fined

Medical advice in case of a simple illness or exacerbation of a chronic disease can be obtained 24 hours a day by calling the general practitioner hotline on 66016001.

In Riga and other large cities of Latvia, every resident will be able to receive medical advice from doctors on duty who provide assistance within the competence of a family doctor. The work schedule of doctors on duty is available on the NHS website vmnvd.gov.lv section “Where to get medical help?”/”Kur saņemt medicīnisko palīdzību?”

In case of injuries (burns, sprains, fractures, etc.) or sudden illness, assistance is provided at emergency medical centers. Also, in emergency cases, when health or life is in danger, help can be obtained in the hospital emergency departments.

In a life-threatening situation, call the emergency number 113.

In what cases does the NHS recommend doing this:

* if the person is unconscious;

* if there is a life-threatening situation: bleeding, serious injury (traffic accident, electric shock, fire, etc.);

* if there is sudden chest pain that may indicate a heart attack, sudden weakness that may indicate a stroke, or in any other situation where minutes are critical to getting help.

What is the price

Let us remind you in this regard: calling an ambulance, if it is considered unfounded, can be costly. The fee for calling a team for assistance that is not considered urgent is 84.93 euros.
