Federal investigation into security breaches begins –

With a semi-automatic rifle just 150 meters away from Donald Trump: the attack carried out by a young man, identified as a twenty-year-old named Thomas Matthew Crooks, originally from Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, is at the center of an investigation by the federal services of the United States. The hypothesis, reported the news agency Associated Press, concerns errors or negligence in the security measures adopted in view of the rally of the former president, candidate for the White House for the Republicans in view of the elections in November.

Immediately in the parliamentary commission: first troubles for the director of US intelligence

According to the initial reconstructions of the investigators, Crooks fired multiple shots toward the stage where Trump was “from an elevated position outside the rally area”. More than ten videos compared by the Associated Press with satellite images of the site would have revealed how the sniper managed to position himself within shooting range of the stage, less than 150 meters from Trump. Republican representatives have announced their intention to launch a parliamentary investigation into yesterday’s events. In particular, it would be necessary to clarify how Crooks managed to reach the roof of a building adjacent to the rally area immediately before or while Trump was giving the speech. The speaker of the House of Representatives, Mike Johnson, a Republican, also intervened. “The central director of the Secret Service Kimberly Cheatle and several other officials,” reads a message on the politician’s profile on the social network X, “will be summoned for a hearing before our committees as soon as possible”.
