The Pakistani Ministry of Finance said in a statement that the federal government will consider leasing a container terminal in Karachi port to Abu Dhabi Ports Company.

This comes following a recommendation from a government committee today, Thursday.

It is worth noting that Pakistan is witnessing a difficult economic situation, as foreign exchange reserves are no longer sufficient except to pay the value of imports for a period of regarding weeks, in light of seemingly endless efforts to deal with foreign debts.

Pakistan is working on a comprehensive energy security plan, which provides for the import of oil, liquefied natural gas, pipeline gas and other fuels from Russia.

Pakistan is counting on imports from Russia to allow it to meet up to 35% of its needs in the future.
