The Federal Air Transport Agency has completed an investigation into the emergency landing of a Ural Airlines flight in a wheat field in the Novosibirsk region, reported on November 4 MSK1.RU with reference to aviation experts.

Let us remind you that the Ural Airlines plane flew on September 12 from Sochi to Omsk. During landing in Omsk, one of the hydraulic systems failed, and the commander decided to fly to Novosibirsk, where there was a longer runway, but ended up landing in a wheat field. There were 159 passengers and six crew members on board, all of whom left the cabin independently. Five passengers sought medical attention due to bruises and pressure. A criminal case was opened for violating safety rules for the operation of air transport.

An inspection by the Federal Air Transport Agency confirmed that the pilots made a mistake in their calculations (this was previously assumed by NGS sources): due to the extended landing gear, they incorrectly calculated how much fuel was required for the flight to the alternate airfield. Experts also believe that there was an opportunity to land in Omsk – there was enough length of the landing strip there. “The crew did not pay due attention to the increased consumption and current fuel balance,” the publication quotes the report. As for the failure of the hydraulic system, this, according to experts, was due to wear on the drive hose.

“At the same time, taking into account all the mistakes made earlier, the decision to land the plane in the field, according to experts, was the only correct and competent one,” the publication says.

Now the plane, let us remind you, is still in the field. Experts are considering several options for his evacuation.
