Fedenaga ready for new vaccination cycle against foot-and-mouth disease

The president of FedenaEdgar Medina indicated that they are making the necessary preparations to obtain the foot-and-mouth disease certification from PANAFTOSA after vaccinating cattle in the country during the first 15 days of October.

“If this is achieved, it would allow Venezuelan producers to access important international markets that would make it possible for national livestock to be available in different countries,” he said.

He also pointed out that last year, the livestock sector was one of the fastest growing in Venezuela.

“I think that this is where the country’s economic production has to turn because this is a sector that will recover Venezuela’s economy. We have more than 270 thousand direct jobs in our production,” he said.

“It has been more than seven years since we received any scientifically proven report or case of foot-and-mouth disease, which is an epizootic disease caused by a virus that only affects animals,” he said.
