With the approach of the elective General Assembly of Senegalese basketball scheduled for May 6, a falling out has emerged between the outgoing president, Me Babacar Ndiaye, and the Minister of Sports.
Originally, according to Le Quotidien: the appointment by Yankhoba Diatara of a new Secretary General of the federal body… without consultation.

Indeed, reports this newspaper, Yankhoba Diatara had an agent of his ministry appointed without consultation with the Federals.
Worse, the proposal of the president of the Fsbb to promote the interim, Ibrahima Niang, to the post of incumbent, having been completely ignored by the minister who took the “solo” decision to appoint Mr. Sarr without referring to the boss of the “orange ball”.

A rather curious approach and contrary to the internal regulations of the federal body. Which says in its article 33: “The Secretary General is appointed by the Minister of Sports on the proposal of the President of the Fsbb. It is revocable in the same way…”
Obviously, a “muted” discontent was quick to resound on the side of the premises of the Stadium Marius Ndiaye which serve as federal headquarters. With questions that have finished going around the basket: What is the guardianship up to?

What is Diatara looking for by wanting to impose an Sg, unknown to the battalion, on the eve of an elective Ag? With the risk of seeing Adama Sarr be considered an “intruder” within the Federal Office, like a hair in the soup.
We suddenly understand why this act by the guardianship is far from reassuring the Federals and especially the outgoing president, Me Babacar Ndiaye, who must watch his back.
It must be said that the approach of the Minister of Sports not to consult with the Fsbb is all the more inexplicable as such a practice has gone out of fashion.
Indeed, even if the last word goes to the supervisory authority, the trend now is to promote consultation in order to find a consensus for good teamwork. As is done with the co-opted who, before being chosen by the ministry, are first proposed by the federations.
Enough to explain this discontent among the Federals who received a “dunk” in the face!
For the moment, only Me Babacar Ndiaye has officially submitted his candidacy for a 3rd term. The outgoing president is also conducting his campaign by touring the regions. What regarding the others?
On the side of the Crbs (Convergence for the renewal of Senegalese basketball), which is still contesting the candidacy of Me Ndiaye, it announces, in its last press release, that it will present “a candidate for the presidency and candidates for the Bureau and the Steering Committee”.
While continuing to demand “proper holding of the General Assembly”, the Crbs says it expects the “launch of a new process for free, transparent and democratic elections, led by a neutral ad hoc committee”.
For the other structure, the Union of Former Basketball Players of Senegal, which was created recently, and which says it is once morest a third term for Me Ndiaye, it is a mystery and a ball of gum concerning a possible presidential candidacy.
