Featured farm animals during SIAM – Today Morocco

This ceremony is a motivation for the breeders and a recognition of their efforts.

Concours : The best breeders were awarded during SIAM 2023. Indeed, prizes were awarded to them on Saturday in Meknes, during the 15th International Agricultural Show in Morocco (SIAM 2023) by the Minister of Agriculture, maritime fishing, rural development and water and forests, Mohamed Sadiki.

Organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development, Water and Forests and the Interprofessional Federations of the Dairy and Red Meat Sectors as well as the National Association of Sheep and Goats, 30 competitions took place at SIAM 2023 with the participation of 178 breeders. The objective was to select the best animals exhibited in the breeding division, according to species and breeds. Thus, the various competitions recorded the participation of 73 dairy cattle breeders, 30 beef cattle breeders, 46 sheep breeders and 25 goat breeders and 4 camel breeders. Thus, the progress of these competitions was managed by mixed technical commissions made up of national and international experts, specialized in breeding.

On this occasion, the Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Waters and Forests, Mohamed Sadiki, explained that the award ceremony for the winners of the competitions for the selection of the best animals exhibited in the breeding division, depending on the species and breeds, is a motivation for breeders and recognition of their efforts. According to him, the breeding of different breeds of cattle, sheep and goats is part of the “Green Generation” strategy. He also recalled that 19 program contracts spread over ten years have been signed between the State and the profession, aimed at ensuring the sustainability of food sovereignty, through the organization, qualification and modernization of production chains and breeding. These program contracts, according to him, also aim to support and subsidize breeders, in terms of production and feeding costs for cattle and others, as well as regular veterinary and health monitoring of livestock. He also stressed that “breeders are doing their best to ensure the supply of the Moroccan market as well as the preservation of different breeds”. It should be noted that the number of heads exhibited in the livestock division reached approximately 600 heads, including 140 heads of dairy cattle, 90 heads of beef cattle, 200 heads of sheep, 130 heads of goats and 8 heads of camels. In the sheep and goats category, the prize for the best breeder of Sardi breed sheep went to Laklakh Ahmed.

The prize for the best breeder of Boujaâd sheep was awarded to Chaatit Mohammed. As for the Prize for the best sheep breeder of the Timahdit breed, it was awarded to Kha Ali Mustapha. For his part, the prize for the best breeder of Beni Guil sheep was awarded to Mehdaoui Almiloud. The award for best breeder of D’Man sheep goes to Bousekri Alhou. Still in the same category, the prize for the best breeder of white mountain sheep was awarded to Akhatar Lahcen. The Prize for the best breeder of black sheep in Siroua to Haddou Assaid. The prize for the best black goat breeder was won by Bouziani Othmane.

As for the Prize for the best Barcha goat breed breeder, it was awarded to Abouhou Mohammed. The prize for the best Draâ goat breed breeder goes to Choukri Abdessadek. The Al Ghazalia Goat Breeder Prize was awarded to Esslimani Omar. As for the award for best Béni Aarous goat breed breeder, it goes to Souahli Abdelaziz. The prize for the best breeder of red goats was awarded to Assaid Ahmed. In the dairy cow category, the prize for the best breeder of Holstein dairy cows having given birth several times was awarded to Alhabib Al Moudden. As for the Prize for the best breeder of Holstein dairy cows having given birth only once, it goes to Al Boudarkaoui Moulay Ibrahim. For its part, the Prize for the best breeder of pregnant Holstein dairy cows was awarded to Domaine Liblis. As for the Prize for the best breeder of Holstein dairy cows having never given birth, it was awarded to Fatiha Hanoune. In the same category, the prize for the best breeder of dairy cows of the Montbéliarde breed having given birth several times goes to Agroplus. The winner of the prize for the best breeder of Montbéliarde dairy cows having given birth only once was won by Yassir Bennani.

For its part, the prize for the best breeder of pregnant Montbéliarde dairy cows was awarded to Agroplus. For his part, the Prize for the best breeder of dairy cows of the Montbéliarde breed having never given birth goes to Abdezzazak Labridia Ghazi. In addition, the trophy of the Champion of champions of Holstein dairy cows was awarded to Alhabib Al Moudden. While the trophy of the Champion of champions of dairy cows of the Montbéliarde breed goes to Agroplus.

In the beef cow category, El Khouli Mustapha won 5 prizes (Prize for the best breeder of Limousin beef cattle, the Prize for the best breeder of Charolais beef cattle, the Prize for the best breeder of Blonde d’Aquitaine breed, the Prize for the best breeder of Piedmontese beef cattle and the Prize for the best breeder of Belgian blue beef cattle (Large size)). For his part, the Prize for the best breeder of beef cattle of the Belgian blue breed (Medium size) was awarded to Al Forsa Mohammed. As for the Prize for the best breeder of beef cattle of the Belgian blue breed (Small size), it goes to Bahbouhi Aicha. Finally, the prize for the best breeder of Oulmès beef cattle was awarded to Habibi Al Homani.
