Feast of the Blessed Virgin Mary Carnival: Celebrate with Saint Mary’s Orthodox Church in Carrollton

Carrollton (Texas) ∙ Saint Mary’s Orthodox Church in Carrollton will celebrate the Feast of the Blessed Virgin Mary on August 18, 19 and 20 (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) with various events.

On Sunday, August 13th, following the Holy Mass, Vicar Rev. Fr. John Kunthusheril, Asst. Vicar Rev. Fr. Mathew Alexander started the Kodiyeti festival celebrations. On Friday, August 18, at 7:00 pm evening prayer, hymn service, followed by evangelist Fr. Biju Thomas’ sermon will be held.

On Saturday, August 19, from four o’clock in the evening, there will be a carnival organized by the youth movement and a ‘thattukada’ with local food. At 6:30 p.m. evening prayer, intercessory prayer, hymn service, followed by Rev. Fr. Convention lecture by Biju Thomas will be held. Then at 8:45 in the evening, the religious community will come together and perform a colorful procession around the church accompanied by pearl umbrellas and chendamela in the traditional way. Then the blessing and vows will be offered.

Morning prayer at 8:30 a.m. on the main feast day, Sunday, August 20, and Mass at 3:00 p.m. Rev. Fr. Biju Thomas, Rev. Fr. Rev. Sanjeev Mary Offer. Fr. Thomas Mathew, Rev. Fr. and John Kunathusseril will be workers. Then there will be a blessing, offering of vows and a sumptuous feast.

‘Perunnal and Thattukada’

A special carnival organized by the youth group of St. Mary’s Orthodox Church in Carrollton on Saturday, August 19 from four o’clock in the church courtyard will attract special attention. The organizers of the youth protest said that everyone is welcome to the carnival and thatthukada. Funds will be used for charity activities of the youth group.
