Fear of major telecom blackout in country, PTA warns consumers – Pakistan

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) on Friday raised fears of a massive telecom blackout due to non-renewal of Long Distance International (LDI) licenses and the growing crisis in the telecom sector to Parliament. What have you been aware of?

According to the PTA document, 10 percent of internet traffic will also be affected, 40 percent of ATMs in the country will stop working, while international traffic in Pakistan will also be affected due to non-renewal of licenses and services will be transferred to other operators. The companies have approached the court to continue the services. Nine telecom companies have to pay arrears of Rs 54 billion in late payment surcharge and Rs 24 billion to the IT Ministry.
