Reason for update
Sony actually launched Ver.4.0 firmware for the FE 100-400mm F4.5-5.6 GM OSS at the end of 2023. However, this version of the firmware was discovered by Sony to have the following problems: If the camera’s shooting mode is set For S&Q or 4K clips, autofocus and manual focus will stop working. For this reason, Sony immediately suspended the download of this version of the firmware and released Ver.5.0 to solve the problem.
Recently, Sony announced the release of the latest firmware Ver.6.0 of the FE 100-400mm F4.5-5.6 GM OSS. In addition to fixing the inability to focus in the previous Ver.4.0, it also adds support for the A9 III’s 120fps high-speed continuous shooting, allowing Photographers who use the A9 III with the FE 100-400mm F4.5-5.6 GM OSS can truly enjoy the extremely fast continuous shooting performance brought by the A9 III.

Update project
