The latest political polls are being compiled in view of the European elections on 8 and 9 June: the latest survey by Noto polls for Porta a Porta examines the voting intentions of Italians with and without the candidacies of party leaders. If they did not run, “Fdi would get 28.5%, the League would get 8.3%, narrowly surpassed by Forza Italia at 8.7%. In opposition, the Democratic Party would get 19% and Alleanza Verdi- Left 4% United States of Europe would exceed the threshold by gaining 4.5%”.
Then there are the new entries, such as the lists referring to Michele Santoro and Cateno De Luca, which stop at 1.6% and 2.5% respectively, “while the 5 Star Movement is listed at 16.7% and Action, with its 3.7%, would stop below the threshold.”
What happens if party leaders take the field personally? With the candidacies of Giorgia Meloni, Elly Schlein, Antonio Tajani, Matteo Renzi, Emma Bonino, Michele Santoro and Cateno De Luca “things change. Fdi would go from 28.5% to 29.5%, while the League would confirm its 8 .3% surpassed by Forza Italia which, however, would reach 9.2%. With Schlein leading the centre-left, the Democratic Party would gain one point and reach 20%, while the Greens-Left Alliance would drop to 3.5%. ‘Europe with the candidacies of Renzi and Bonino would reach 5%”, explains a note from the program hosted by Bruno Vespa on Rai1. The figure regarding the M5S is significant as it “would suffer a decline, falling back to 15.7%, while Action, both with and without the leaders’ candidacies, stands at 3.7%”. With the candidacy of Santoro and De Luca, the former’s list would drop to 1%, while that of the latter would rise to 3%. In general, thanks to the candidacy of the leaders, the turnout would go from 50% to 53%: an interesting figure on the mobilization to vote.
