FCZ hooligans attack GC fans on the train
FCZ hooligans boarded a train filled with GC fans, pulled the emergency brake and attacked people. Five people were injured.
What a sad end to an exciting cup day: following the football game in Wettswil aA on Saturday followingnoon between Grasshoppers Zurich and FC Wettswil, brawls broke out at Weihermatt station (Urdorf municipality). FC Zurich hooligans were there and attacked GC fans.
Five people were slightly injured, according to the Zurich cantonal police. After the end of the game, many GC fans traveled to Zurich by train. In the Weihermatt train station, supporters of FC Zurich suddenly boarded the run-in train and pulled the emergency brake. They then attacked recognizable GC sympathizers.
The security forces of the Zurich canton police who arrived on site, together with their partner organizations, brought the situation under control. The five injured people were given medical care by the police until paramedics arrived.
Train traffic interrupted
The Zurich cantonal police carried out extensive personal checks on site and initiated appropriate investigations.
The train continued its journey to the main station following regarding an hour. There, a large police presence ensured that there were no further disturbances or clashes.
Due to the incident at Weihermatt station, train traffic on this route was temporarily interrupted for safety reasons. From 8.45 p.m. the trains ran normally once more. Together with the Zurich cantonal police, the Zurich city police, the SBB CFF FFS transport police, the Transsicura and the Schlieren/Urdorf city police were deployed. (of)
