Vienna (OTS) – The Fraction of Christian Trade Unionists (FCG) mourns the loss of the outstanding trade unionist, champion of women’s rights and convinced Christian trade unionist HR Christine Gubitzer, who passed away at the end of last week.
FCG Federal Chairwoman Abg. e.g. NR Romana Deckenbacher is deeply saddened by the loss of Christine Gubitzer: “Christine was not only an impressive trade unionist, but also a wonderful personality who stood up for the interests of employees and in particular for the rights of women with passion and commitment . Their commitment and convictions have had a lasting impact on the work of the FCG and the ÖGB. The condolences of the entire group go out to the family and the surviving relatives during this difficult time of saying goodbye. “Your legacy will live on in our hearts.”
FCG Federal Women’s Chairwoman Ursula Hafner is also filled with deep sadness: “Christine Gubitzer was an inspiration for all of us. We will miss her tireless commitment to women’s rights and her clear voice for social justice. She is an incomparable role model for generations of trade unionists who resolutely stand up for the concerns of employees in the world of work and see equality between women and men as a fundamental human right.
Christine Gubitzer worked as a school director and local councilor in Krems before her path led her to numerous important positions in the trade union movement. In 1995 she was elected FCG federal women’s chairwoman in the Austrian Trade Union Confederation (ÖGB). She was also deputy chairwoman of the FCG in the ÖGB, deputy chairwoman and women’s chairwoman of the Public Service Union (GÖD) and deputy chairwoman of the ÖGB women.
Her life motto “It is not the circumstances of life that make a person happy, but rather their convictions” will always remind us of her strength and determination. The FCG bows with deep gratitude to the life’s work of Christine Gubitzer and will always keep her honorable memory .
