Vienna (OTS) – The shocking reports and images of the devastating effects of the severe storms in southern Austria have been omnipresent for days. In this context, the focus is on the outstanding achievements and the solidarity of the helpers from various areas. “Above all, the active support of the countless volunteers is of great importance. Whether it’s a club that supports volunteers in rescue organizations or the volunteer fire brigade – the value of this commitment is inestimable and the recognition of these efforts is undoubtedly of human size,” emphasizes FCG Federal Chairman Abg. e.g. NR Mag. Romana Deckenbacher.
Volunteer work and solidarity should not be taken for granted, rather they should be appropriately supported and promoted. As a first step in this direction, now that we are being presented with these images, it is time to create a financial balance. For this reason, the FCG advocates the statutory anchoring of a tax deduction for costs in connection with voluntary work. “Solidarity is one of FCG’s core values and as such we will support the people who are so committed to helping those around them. However, our request is only a first step,” confirms Romana Deckenbacher.
