FC Twente is happy with the arrival of Myron Boadu. The 23-year-old striker from AS Monaco was considered the first candidate to replace Manfred Ugalde, who left for Spartak Moscow, but in recent days more and more obstacles have been thrown up from the principality.
The Ligue 1 club hoped to be able to negotiate a more financially favorable deal for Boadu elsewhere. However, the former AZ player really wanted to go to FC Twente and is now getting his wish. He will play on loan for the Enschede Eredivisie team until June 30. There is no option to purchase included in the agreement.
“The breakthrough came yesterday followingnoon,” said a relieved technical director Arnold Bruggink, who was already in Monaco for negotiations last Sunday. ‘It was quite stuck in the days that followed, but we continued to persevere. Also because Dominique Scholten got involved, as a mediator. Today he has his first official working day as general manager. So a very good start for him.’
FC Twente now has two excellent options for the striker position with Ricky van Wolfswinkel and Boadu. “With Myron we now have an extra weapon with his speed,” Bruggink said on Thursday morning, on the way to Schiphol to pick up the newcomer. ‘I’ll be very happy to have it in the car straight away.’
