This comes out of nowhere! FC Schalke 04 announced on Wednesday (December 20th) that the contract with their previous sleeve partner Hülsta will be terminated with immediate effect.
FC Schalke 04 explains that the club is making use of a special right of termination as part of the insolvency proceedings. The company’s insolvency administrator informed the miners that Hülsta, as a contractual partner, had no interest in continuing the contractual relationship as long as it was in insolvency proceedings.

At FC Schalke 04, the topic of sponsors was already a big and sensitive issue last summer, and now there is excitement once more. Since sleeve sponsor Hülsta does not want to continue the contractual relationship with the Revierklub in the future due to the insolvency proceedings, S04 has drawn an immediate line and ended the partnership.

“We very much regret this step, as the hülsta group has been a reliable partner of Schalke 04 in recent years. Because we have not received any payments from the current partner this season, the club believes that this step is unavoidable at this point in time,” explains Christina Rühl-Hamers, member of the board.
The club explains that measures for Hülsta have already been reduced in recent weeks. These will now be discontinued with immediate effect and all services will be stopped permanently. This also includes the company’s appearance on the jersey sleeve.
Excluded from this are jerseys that are intended for sale at FC Schalke 04. These have already been flocked with the Hülsta logo in upstream processes and will remain on sale until further notice. This is also a decision in the spirit of ecological sustainability.

“The search for a new partner naturally began a few weeks ago,” explains Rühl-Hamers. “The market is currently challenging, but we are working at full speed to find a good solution for Schalke 04 under these conditions.”
Hülsta thanks S04
In a statement, Hülsta thanked S04 for the “successful collaboration” and “regrets that we have to end our joint commitment. The economic developments of the last year and a half have presented the hülsta group with challenges that have led to far-reaching decisions.”
The company also emphasizes: “The insolvency proceedings of the hülsta works, the operational heart of the well-known furniture brand, were successfully completed on November 9, 2023, which represents an important milestone for the future of hülsta.”
