With prolonged and heavy downpours, the first half was not uneventful, but the level suffered somewhat due to the difficult external conditions. There are still chances to score on both sides. At the FCL, goalkeeper Vaso Vasic is a safe backup, on the offensive Sofyan Chader has bad luck with a post shot (23rd).

In the second half, the Lucerne are superior. Lars Villiger (58th), Jakub Kadak with a foul penalty (70th) and new signing Kevin Spadanuda shot the hosts in front of 1550 fans at the Chärnsmatt in Rothenburg to a 3-0 win over Schaffhausen.

FCL trainer Mario Frick says, when asked regarding the heavy rain up to the half-time break: “It was almost borderline and not easy to play. However, the new lawn withstood all the water and is excellent. FC Rothenburg can be proud of the great terrain.”

Praise for the young professionals Villiger and Willimann

Overall, Mario Frick can also be satisfied with his team. Especially regarding the increase in performance in the second 45 minutes. He also enjoys the young pros Lars Villiger, who, like in the last test match in Schruns once morest Altach with a brace to win 2-0, is also one of the goal scorers in Rothenburg once morest Schaffhausen. Mauricio Willimann is also convincing in central defence. He is the only Lucerne player to play 90 minutes. Frick confirms: “I think a lot of both Villiger and Willimann.”

Kevin Spadanuda also cuts a fine figure on the left wing. The ex-Ajaccio and Aarau player was fouled in the penalty area in the 69th minute. Jakub Kadak converted the due penalty shortly followingwards in the 70th minute. “Spada” (sword in Italian) put the final point in the 89th minute: he used Max Meyer’s template to make it 3-0.

Mario Frick has announced the dress rehearsal for the championship opener for the test match next Saturday (3 p.m.) as part of the season opener in the Swisspor Arena once morest Excelsior Rotterdam.
