FC Blau-Weiß Linz welcomes Wolfsberger AC to the Hofmann Personal Stadium in the 12th round of the ADMIRAL Bundesliga. Kick-off is at 5 p.m.
After the home game last Saturday, the Blue-Whites are already looking forward to their next game at home. The last round against Austria Lustenau ended in a goalless draw for the team led by coach Gerald Scheiblehner. Now it’s against the premiere opponent in the Bundesliga, Wolfsberger AC. The Carinthians won the first meeting with a 2-1 win. Simon Pirkl scored the first Bundesliga goal for the Blue-Whites.
“It was of course a very nice experience, but when you think back, you don’t remember the game as positively because we lost and didn’t play what we would have liked,” said Simon Pirkl.
WAC with an eye on the championship group
The Carinthians are currently in seventh place in the table with 14 points and therefore, from the current perspective, just outside the championship group. Just like the blue-whites, the Carinthians took home a point on the last matchday after a goalless draw against Altach.
“They are a very experienced team that are perhaps a little behind expectations in terms of points. But we are in a good mood, have a very good atmosphere in the team and definitely want to win the game now. But it’s not about the home win, it’s about us wanting to confirm the performances of the last few rounds. If we can do that, then I think a win against the WAC is possible, although we also know that we need a very good day,” says Gerald Scheiblehner.
“We always go into the game with the goal of winning. “We have prepared intensively for the opponent over the week, we know what is important, we have a clear plan, we of course want to implement it in the best possible way and, in the best case, leave the three points at home,” says Simon Pirkl.
