FC Bayern are German champions – but Oliver Kahn and Hasan Salihamidzic still have no future. President Herbert Hainer confirms their dismissals.

Update from May 27, 7:38 p.m.: FC Bayern published an official announcement on its website regarding the departure of Oliver Kahn and Hasan Salihamidzic. “The decision to separate from Oliver Kahn was anything but easy for the Supervisory Board. Nevertheless, due to the overall development, we have come to the decision to make a new appointment at the top of the Management Board,” President Herbert Hainer is quoted as saying.

Hainer said of Salihamidzic: “The course of this season following the winter break and differing opinions regarding the future direction of our team have prompted us to agree with Hasan Salihamidzic on an immediate termination of his position. The decision was difficult for us.”

First report from May 27th:

München – Oliver Kahn and Hasan Salihamidzic need the FC Bayern leave, like tz has experienced. First reported Bild and Kicker unanimously regarding the separation from the two board members. Jan-Christian Dreesen, most recently CFO, is to take over as the new CEO.

The decision is said to have been made in an extraordinary meeting of the Supervisory Board convened at short notice. The regular meeting on June 30 is to take place as planned.

Kahn and Salihamidzic apparently released at Bayern

Kahn did not travel to Cologne, initially reports of influenza made the rounds. But the upcoming dismissal might also be the reason. Kahn responded on Twitter and wrote: “I was forbidden.” Sky also reported with some delay that the decision had been made by Bayern. The TV broadcaster relies on internal club sources.

There was initially no official confirmation from FC Bayern. (epp)
