FC Bayern has signed Eric Dier. The Englishman brings a South African model with him to Munich who used to date another soccer star.
Munich – Ink dry: FC Bayern has found its long-awaited new defensive signing. Eric Dier is moving from Tottenham Hotspur to the Bavarian capital during the winter break. The route from London to Munich is well known – Harry Kane took the same step in the summer and probably also played a role in the negotiations with his former colleague.

For coach Thomas Tuchel, Dier opens up new defensive options. The former England international can play in the back four either inside or on the right side.
The 29-year-old also gained experience as a defensive midfielder. Bayern have thus signed an important piece of the puzzle – even before the Bundesliga restart on Friday evening (January 12th) against Hoffenheim (all TV information).

Dier only played a supporting role for Spurs this season and only played four Premier League games. So now the hard cut with the move to Munich.
But the defensive all-rounder didn’t make this decision alone – his wife certainly also played a part in it: Anna Dier (25), née Modler. Before Dier, the South African model was with a certain Alexis Sanchez – once for Tottenham’s arch-enemy Arsenal and later for Manchester United, Inter Milan and Olympique Marseille.

But this chapter has long been closed. Dier has been with his Anna since 2022 and the application was made in November. The wedding followed in the summer of 2023 and a baby is now on the way.
What else do you need to know about the Bayern newcomer? He has 49 international matches for the Three Lions, but strangely enough, his path to becoming a professional began in Portugal. The European Football Championship took place there in 2004 and his mother took on a job as part of it. That’s why the whole family moved to the Iberian Peninsula. In 2010, the Diers went back to England – but not for Eric, who was already playing in Sporting Lisbon’s youth academy at the time.

In the meantime, Dier was on loan to Everton FC’s youth team, but in 2014 he finally left Sporting and joined Tottenham, where he was active for almost ten years. From now on he plays for Bayern, who signed him until the summer of 2024 – with an option for another year. (mind)
