FC Bayern Munich, News: Thomas Müller talks about Bayer Leverkusen
Before FC Bayern Munich’s duel with Bayer Leverkusen, Thomas Müller found words of praise for the reigning German champions.
“Records are usually achieved through impressive and very good playing styles, otherwise it is impossible,” said the FCB veteran in an interview bundesliga.de about the Werkself, who remained unbeaten last season.
Müller added: “When you see how Leverkusen play, what individual players they have, how they act as a team… you know: every time you play against Leverkusen, you’re in for a really tough challenge. They can play football, they can can suffer, they have a lot of mentality, they never give up.”
The ability of Xavi Alonso’s team to often score in the final stages reminded Müller of the much-quoted “Bayern-Dusel”.
“It’s crazy, this added time,” said the 35-year-old and added: “There used to be the Bayern duel. It was such a topic that you just had to explain it to people because it was stupid if it said: ‘They’re so good that they work at it for so long that they end up scoring a goal.'”
Last season, Leverkusen scored eight goals in stoppage time, and this season they have already scored two. “They keep knocking on the door until someone opens it. At Leverkusen, someone always opens it in stoppage time,” explained Müller.
