FC Bayern Munich – FCB coach Thomas Tuchel: No rotation “for the sake of rotation”

Bayern Munich coach Thomas Tuchel encourages his players to face a difficult task against VfL Bochum. “We need the utmost respect,” said Tuchel before the duel on Saturday (3:30 p.m.) in Munich. Bochum “absolutely deserved to play three games in a row without defeat” and Bayern “have to be ready to compete physically because there are an extremely large number of duels and sprints.”

Tuchel praised central defender Matthijs de Ligt and national player Thomas Müller, who had recently not played from the start. Both “deserved” to be in the starting line-up. But he won’t rotate “for the sake of rotation”, players have to “earn assignments” through training and the situation “has to be right”.

Tuchel emphasized that it was “far too early for fundamental discussions” about supposedly too short playing times: “Everyone has to be ready at all times. That is the commitment that you make by signing with Bayern Munich.” It is “quite normal that players deserve to play, even if they don’t play or come off the bench.”

This also explicitly applies to super joker Mathys Tel, who recently caused a sensation after being substituted on. “He has a crucial role. The way he accepts it is fantastic,” said Tuchel about the 18-year-old, who is the first replacement for Harry Kane in the center of attack.
