FC Bayern has these three candidates on the shortlist

FC Bayern continues to keep their ears and eyes open in search of a new central defender. If it had been relatively quiet in this regard in the past few weeks, the Munich team now seems to be dealing with three specific candidates.

Sports director and chief squad planner Hasan Salihamidzic emphasized last week that Bayern still have a need for action in the center of defence. Even if Benjamin Pavard will play in central defense in the future due to the signing of Noussair Mazraoui, Julian Nagelsmann would like to add more personnel. It is an open secret that the FCB coach wants a new central defender with leadership qualities.

Bayern is looking for a financially feasible deal

As the “Abendzeitung München” reports, Bayern have three specific players on their shortlist in Matthijs de Ligt, Kalidou Koulibaly and Gleison Bremer. Accordingly, these are discussed as possible options on Säbener Straße.

The problem: Financially, all three players are not a real bargain. Juve-Profi de Ligt has been associated with the record champions for some time, but would be by far the most expensive solution with a transfer fee of 70-80 million euros. The name Koulibaly has also circulated time and once more on the Isar in the past. The Senegalese is only contractually tied to Napoli until 2023 and costs between 30-35 million euros. However, at 31, Koulibaly isn’t a particularly sustainable solution.

Gleison Bremer from FC Turin was traded as a potential Süle replacement in Munich at the beginning of the year. According to reports, the Brazilian also costs significantly more than 30 million euros. In addition, this is on the list of many other top clubs. Inter Milan in particular is very interested and is said to be in advanced talks with the player side.

One thing is clear: If Bayern cannot find a financially feasible deal, the new season will start with the current staff. According to “AZ”, the Bayern bosses are not willing to spend too much money on a new central defender.
