The Catalan club have clarified that Alemany, whose contract ran until 2024, will leave the club this summer but that he will continue to work for Barça if necessary to seal the last summer transfers.
“Although he will leave the club on July 1, through an amicable agreement, Mateu Alemany has committed to conclude all first-team related operations this summer, even if there is one that activates in the last moments of the transfer window”, indicated the Blaugrana club in its press release.
A rebound at Aston Villa?
According to the press, Catalan in particular, Alemany, 60, would be close to an agreement with the English club of Aston Villa, trained by the Basque coach Unai Emery.
