FC Barcelona made good money from the visit of Real Madrid outside its usual Camp Nou venue.

The Spanish Clasico between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid was a financial success for Barça, which made a big profit thanks to the sale of tickets for the match. According to FC Barcelona’s vice-president of marketing, Juli Guiu, interviewed by the Tot Costa show on Catalan radio, the club collected 7.6 million euros thanks to the sale of tickets for the Clasico.

This sum exceeded the revenue from more than 60% of the previous season’s matches at the Camp Nou stadium. The Clasico held at the Lluís Companys stadium attracted an attendance of 50,112 spectators. Juli Guiu highlighted that expectations were largely exceeded, largely thanks to the collaboration between FC Barcelona and Rolling Stone, an association that had a major impact on the event. Ticket prices for the match ranged from 249 euros in the second row of stands behind the goals to 495 euros for the main stand at the Lluís Companys Stadium.

However, despite this record revenue, FC Barcelona anticipates a negative financial impact of 400 million euros due to its move to Montjuïc, during the renovation work undertaken at Camp Nou. The club hopes to compensate for this loss with extraordinary income from their participation in the Champions League, of up to 28 million euros if they reach the quarter-finals. Despite these financial challenges, the club recorded a trebled net profit of €304 million at the end of the 2022-2023 season, with operating income of €1.259 billion. The club also plans to reduce its expenses by 28% to cope with the delicate financial situation caused by its move.
