Farewell speculation regarding Joshua Kimmich has recently caused a stir around FC Bayern. FC Barcelona in particular is said to be interested in the Munich playmaker. Now there seems to have been a rethink.
FC Barcelona distance themselves from Joshua Kimmich, according to the Spanish transfer expert Gerard Romero. The 28-year-old Kimmich had repeatedly been associated with a change to the newly crowned champion in the past few weeks.
The Spanish media initially reported Barca’s interest in the midfielder, and “Sky” recently confirmed the Blaugrana’s mind games. At FC Barcelona, the departure of club icon Sergio Busquets frees up a place in the central defensive midfield, “Mundo Deportivo” had Joshua Kimmich even described as coach Xavi Hernández’s dream player.
Kimmich has been one of the key players in the German record champions for years, his contract runs until 2025. According to Romero, however, FC Barcelona is looking at other clubs and six players should be on the list.
Chelsea star Kanté has been offered to FC Barcelona
Martin Zubimendi from LaLiga rivals Real Sociedad is now said to have top priority – although a transfer in the summer would not be cheap due to a fixed purchase option. The transfer fee would amount to 60 million euros.
Another top candidate is Rúben Neves from Wolverhampton Wanderers. Neves is one of club president Joan Laporta’s favorites. In addition, Guido Rodríguez from Real Betis and Sofyan Amrabat from Florence have been chosen as good alternatives, although a transfer is not a priority. A player for the future might be 18-year-old Arthur Vermeeren, who makes his money at Royal Antwerp.
Meanwhile, the most prominent name on Romero’s list is Chelsea’s N’Golo Kanté. Kanté had already been offered by his advisors.
