FBR’s talks with business community fail, nationwide shutter-down campaign gains momentum – Pakistan

A shutter down strike is going on across the country today against the heavy electricity bills, Hosharba taxes and the trader friendly scheme by the trade unions across the country. Chairman FBR Rashid Mahmood Langriyal’s negotiations with the traders failed. Karachi Chamber, Oil Tanker Association, Engine Traders, and various traders organizations across the country are participating in the strike.

It should be noted that along with political and social organizations, Karachi Chamber has also supported the strike on behalf of business organizations. Yesterday Maulana Fazlur Rehman supported the strike. Besides, PTI is also standing against the government on the call of business organizations. Hafiz Naeem of Jamaat-e-Islami said that the nation cannot bear the burden of IPPs, only the cost should be charged in electricity bills.

On the other hand, the business leaders say that all small and big markets will be completely closed today, the shutter down will continue until the government withdraws the businessmen-friendly scheme.

Trader Friendly Scheme will not be returned in any case, FBR

According to media reports, Chairman FBR Rashid Mahmood Langriyal’s negotiations with the business community failed, Chairman FBR refused to withdraw the businessmen friendly scheme.

In this regard, former Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Sirajul Haque said that today’s successful shutter down strike is a sign of lack of confidence in the policies of the government.

Talking to the media at Chakdara Interchange, Sirajul Haque said that the continuous increase in electricity prices has put the people and the business community on the back foot, while the law and order situation has also worsened.

Karachi Chamber supported the nationwide strike of traders

In Swabi, on the call of Jamaat-e-Islami and Anjuman Tajran, there is a district-wide shutter-down strike, while apart from the traders, all the private educational institutions of the district have also announced a strike.

All private educational institutions were closed in Swabi today, All Cars Association Swabi also closed all its bargains in protest.

In Kirk and Kohat also, the shutter down strike is going on in Kirk today against the increase in electricity prices and taxes. All Anjuman traders and traders organizations fully supported the strike.

Anjuman Tajran announced that all business centers will be closed today and a protest rally and rally will be held in Kirkuk city.
